Having spent some time in Amsterdam last year, I have come to appreciate so many thing about this (my favorite) city. Amsterdam simply “works”. Especially if you accept cycling as a sustainable, eco-friendly, practical (need I go on?) mode of transportation.
In a recent Blog post my friend Marc made reference to a video produced by Jay Sav. This is one of the best videos I have watched in a long time. Why? Because the main characters are not actors. Rather they are just everyday Amsterdamites talking about why they cycle.
Needless to say, and knowing that I am being repetitive, there are many cities that could take a more proactive approach to what the Dutch have become recognized experts at – creating sustainable cycling communities.
Without further ado, I present to you “Two Wheels is All” Enjoy!

I would live there – just for the cycling.

You got it Jack! I cannot get over it. We were fortunate enough to “live Amsterdam” for a short period of time last Fall.
I cannot wait to return to the Netherlands.
I was there in 2005 for a few Days it was very Nice, unfortunately not on a Bike. But it inspired me to get a Dutch Bike from Work cycles .nl.
It is extremely comfortable and smooth ,best Bike I have ever Ridden.
I hope to go back there on a Visit in the near Future.
Here are the bikes we got from Workcycles: http://www.cyclemania.ca/2008/09/cycling-netherlands-bicycle-decisions/
Those are very Beautiful Bikes ,The Secret Service ,very Nippy on the Road. I got the Pastoorfiets Kruisframe /Crossframe with 8 Speed, very Strong Bike .
I commented on your Blog last Year some time before you went on your Trip to Amsterdam.
I’m with Helen. I would love to live in Amsterdam just for the bike riding but instead us all moving to A’dam, we should probably try and advocate cycle friendly infrastructure and acceptance in our own cities …
Great video by the way. Bikes being stolen is apparently a real problem.
