Cycling in Quebec – country style

My last ride was around the city… I’m not a city guy I prefer riding in the country. But sadly, when people think about Quebec, most of the time they think about old Quebec City.

This post and my next post will show you that the region of Quebec has wonderful things to show you.

So for this ride I went around Jacques-Cartier River. The river is about 20 minutes from downtown Quebec City. So it’s cool if you want to do a one day ride during your vacation or whatnot.

The ride itself is moderately hilly but should not be a problem if you do a lot of cycling…

Once that you start following the river you will see awesome hills, houses, etc. A cool thing about that run is that most of the ride is done on streets – but with few cars to be seen.

If you plan to do this ride, I would suggest that you bring some food… There are not a lot of restaurants around there (except for 1 fast food joint).

In my opinion that ride should be done during summer because the river is simply wonderful (you could also do it in the first 2 weeks of October). Look out for my next post for a better “October-ride”.

Here is a picture taken on the bridge (only for bicycles) that cross the river:

Look out for my next post. I’ll show you that Quebec really could have a “Tour de France” stage! I’ll also try to build a little 1 week run for those of you who want to do a great cycling vacation in Quebec.

I hope that you guys love my little “tour” of the Quebec region!

Let me know what you think!

Sounds like a lovely ride. Have you done La Veloroute des Bleuets? It looks very nice…from the website :)

  2. Philippe says:

Yeah it’s a great ride. I’ll probably do La Veloroute des Bleuets next year

    thanks for your comment

  3. Looks like this would be a great fall colors ride. How far from Pont Rouge is it?

  4. Philippe says:

It is actualy very close to pont rouge speed track. I think that it would be possible to get to pont-rouge in less than 1 hour when you’re in Sainte-Catherine.

    Thanks for your comment
