Cycling – Tour de France cheating really gets under my skin

It is really tough to watch so many superb athletes work so hard just so their efforts get tarnished by cheaters (there is no other word).

This year’s Tour de France has been marred by the expulsion of 3 riders so far. This is absolutely shameful! Who knows what the rest of the Tour has in store for us?

This year the drug-testing is being carried out not by cycling’s world governing body (as has been the case in the past), but by the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD). These guys have a (possibly) less-biased approach as every “catch” boosts their reputation.

Having the people that govern cycling manage testing is like having an alcoholic drive a beer truck – and not worry about him sneaking a bottle or two into the cab (maybe a bad example. But you get what I mean).

When someone like Riccardo Ricco gets expelled from the Tour, you can be sure that no exceptions are being made. Mind you his arrogance does get under one’s skin (so maybe it isn’t so bad he is gone?).

With only a few days left in the Tour, I predict that there will be more riders getting caught in the net so to speak.

This all bodes well for professional cycling as more and more people are throwing their arms up and simply moving on to observing other less-tainted sports.
