I just booked our flights to Amsterdam! Helen & I fly out on an evening flight at 6:48 PM. We will be flying from Ottawa to London – with a 2 hour layover; and then on to Amsterdam. We get there mid-morning (next day).
We were warned that baggage transfers at Heathrow could be brutal. Since we have decided to ship our bikes overseas, it is of some concern to me. To deal with the possibility of delays, we have decided to stay the weekend in Amsterdam prior to embarking on our trek. 3 days in this great city will not be hard to take! So if the bikes do get “lost”, we will have diversions such as the Heineken Brewery to distract us.
120,000 Aeroplan points later (and $849 in ridiculous “fees”) and we are set.
Our return flight is on the 26th of September (connecting through Frankfurt).
