Cycling – Sunday bike ride on the Waterfront Trail

We had a couple of false starts to our trip as Neither Helen or I wanted to ride alongside Sunday highway traffic (call us picky if you want!).

Our first start was in Cardinal, Ontario. We parked down by the waterfront and took a spin through Legion Park. Here a satellite view of Cardinal, Ontario.

It actually turned out to be a very nice spot!

This section was only about 4 kms. long!

So on to Waterfront Park in Morrisburg.

This is a much nicer area. We cycled through town and along the bike trail that ajoins the waterway.

Ho hum….

And finally paydirt. A friendly cyclist directed us to the Upper Canada Bird Sanctuary. We parked our car near the Welcome Center and got to riding. From here you can cycle on bike paths all the way to Cornwall.

Things got better and better. The trail leads right to to the start of the Long Sault Parkway.

Helen and I stopped for an awesome lunch along the shores of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. We were completely on our own as the Park was closed.

See pics below.

And of course we had to ride back to the car! Next time we’ll go straight to the Sanctuary and cycle from there to Cornwall — and maybe beyond!
